OUR FOUNDING STORY
A sister’s legacy became a promise to five children.
Two years ago, my sister passed away, leaving behind five children whom I now care for, mentor, and help raise. The youngest was only 10 when she died, and the oldest was 24—still not fully prepared to navigate adulthood alone.
These five have endured a deeply difficult and traumatic life. They were raised in an environment marked by substance misuse, trauma, and physical abuse. Their fathers passed away before their mother, and one child’s father is absent from their life.
Their challenges are complex and varied, including prolonged grief, PTSD, Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and unhealthy dependence on electronics after years of screens serving as babysitters.
Since then, their lives have been reshaped with stability and care—church, family outings, therapy, homeschooling, and consistent medical, dental, orthodontic, and vision care. They especially look forward to vacations at the beach, which remind them of one of the last precious memories we shared with their mom before she passed. Good or bad, she was still their mother, and they still love and miss her.
This lived experience is why I created Faith, Love, Hope, Home, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping orphaned, abused, neglected, and abandoned people, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to restore hope, surround people with love, strengthen faith, and provide a safe, secure, and nurturing home.
